Studio Stories with Floki

We went to see Floki at his ceramics studio in Seville. The space was filled with clay, glazes, and pieces in different stages of life: some fresh from the kiln, others still wet, waiting to take shape. He showed us how he works the wheel, how the clay gradually centers itself under his hands until it becomes something recognizable. We also learned about the quieter processes: preparing the clay, waiting for drying times, glazing. Everything happens calmly, but with a constant energy that gives character to each of his pieces.
